Granville Community Foundation partners with Village of Granville to Grant CARES Act Funds

The Coronavirus Air, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law by the President of the United States on March 27, 2020. The Ohio General Assembly established a process for distributing funds to political subdivisions, including the Village of Granville.

The Granville Community Foundation will be facilitating the CARES Act COVID Relief Funds on behalf of the Village of Granville. The Village has designated more than $100,000 from Federal CARES Act funds to be used in an effort to support Granville-based businesses and not-for-profits affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are honored that the Village has placed its trust in our Foundation to distribute CARES Act Grants,” said Granville Community Foundation President, Angela Katona. “This opportunity enables us to support our community in new and different ways. We are looking forward to working directly with Granville businesses and not-for-profits to assist in their financial recovery from the pandemic.”

Applications for funding will be accepted November 2 - 15, 2020. All businesses and not-for-profit entities in the Granville Village Exempted School District are eligible to apply for the CARES grants. Financial awards will vary based on costs already incurred by the applicant, and the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis on the individual business or not-for-profit organization. The CARES Act grant applications will be reviewed and administered by an 8-person committee comprised of Granville Community Foundation board members. Grant recipients will be notified on or before December 1, 2020.

"We are pleased to partner with the Granville Community Foundation to provide these funds to our community," said Herb Koehler, Village Manager. "It is our hope that the CARES Act grants will have a positive effect in our town, offsetting some of the financial burden our local entities incurred as they worked to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Our partnership with the GCF is one way we can support our local businesses, helping to keep Granville safe and open for business.”
