Granville Community Foundation Announces Board Changes

Since it's inception in 1971, more than 100 Granville residents have served on the Granville Community Foundation's all-volunteer Board of Directors. Through grants to local non-profits, the Granville Community Foundation helps preserve historical landmarks, support cherished community events, and launch innovative programs in education and the arts. The Board is responsible for selection and allocation of grants, which have totaled over $200,000 in the last three years and have been made possible by generous donations from Granville community members.
 
Recent changes to the Board include.
 
Alan Minton to serve as Board President.  Alan is a Vice President with the IT consulting firm HMB which has offices in Columbus, Louisville and DC.  He is a member of the Advisor Network for Rev1 Ventures and is the Co-Founder and Chairman of OneDayOneTon.org which is an organization focused on alleviating hunger.  He is a graduate of Miami University and resides in Granville with his wife and three daughters.
 
Anne Weinberg to serve as Board Vice President.  Anne brings 30 years of marketing experience to the Board. She has worked at large and small advertising agencies, companies, and non-profits. Currently she plays a supporting role as spouse to Adam Weinberg, President of Denison University and enjoys “getting to know Granville” through her work on the Granville Community Foundation Board.
 
Josh Beitzel to serve as Ex Officio Representative of Denison University. (The Foundation Board includes representatives from the Village of Granville, Granville Township, and Granville Schools as well). Joshua serves as a Manager of Investments for Denison University’s Endowment. He was previously employed by Graystone Consulting as an Investment Analyst. Joshua received his MBA and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He currently serves on the board of the Granville Community Foundation and as the Advisor to the Denison University Investment Club; he previously served as Treasurer for the Granville Athletic Boosters.
 
Olivia Aguilar to serve as Ex Officio Representative of Granville Schools. Dr. Olivia Aguilar is a native of Plano, Texas. She completed her B.S. and M.S. in Horticulture Science at Texas A&M University. After teaching in public schools for two years, she went on to receive her PhD in Natural Resources, specializing in Environmental Education, at Cornell University. In 2007, during the latter years of her PhD program, she received a fellowship to teach in Denison University's Environment Studies Program and has remained at Denison since. She recently received tenure and has served in numerous leadership positions at Denison, including membership on the Presidential Search Committee, Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs Search Committee, Personnel Committee and Senior Review Board. She has also co-chaired the Faculty of Color and International Faculty group and is currently serving as chair of the Faculty Development Committee and advisor to the student organization, La Fuerza Latina. Her husband, Kevin Atkinson, owns a small business in Heath, and they live in Granville with their dog, Paco.
 
Don Haven to serve as Member of the Board. Haven is a native of La Porte City, Iowa. He is a graduate of Upper Iowa University (BA, economics and English), Temple University (MBA, finance), and the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (MS, strategic resource management). He is also a graduate of the Naval War College and the Defense Language Institute. Haven retired from the U. S. Navy as a Captain after more than 29 years of service, both as an officer and an enlisted man. He is also a retired teacher, having taught English, Economics, and U.S. History at Granville High School for 10 years and Newark High for 3 years. Haven has served on the Granville Historical Society board and is an elder at First Presbyterian Church. He is also the Chair of the Lt. Don James Memorial Scholarship fundraising committee. Don and Deborah Haven have lived in Granville since 1996 and have two grown daughters, both graduates of Granville High School.
 
Other board members include: Amy Stahl (Treasurer), Jeni Miller (Secretary), Michele Lerner (Ex Officio Representative Village of Granville), Jerry Miller (Ex Officio Representative Granville Township), and members Andy Crawford, Patricia Finkelman, Kristin McGonagle, Vince Paumier, Josh Sanders, and Mike Schmidt.
